Who can use this service?

Help is available to households with incomes under $54,000.

What do I need to bring?

  1. Social Security numbers for everyone listed on the tax return (including children)
  2. Birth dates of everyone listed on the tax return
  3. Photo I.D.
  4. Last year's tax return
  5. W-2 forms, 1099 forms and any other taxable and nontaxable income statements or forms
  6. Receipts for charitable donations
  7. Property taxes paid in 2018 on your home
  8. Form 1095-A (if you received one Daycare expenses (include provider's name, address and tax ID or Social Security number)
  9. Receipts for purchase of school-related material for K-12 students
  10. Form 1098-T for college, technical college or other post-secondary schools
  11. Form 1098-E if interest was paid on a student loan
  12. Bank account number for direct deposit proof refund
  13. RENTERS: Form CRP from your landlord
  14. HOMEOWNERS: 2018 property tax bill

Where can I get tax forms?

The library no longer keeps copies of tax forms, but they may be printed ( up to 10 pages without charge) at the Main and branch libraries. Copies of federal instructions can be found online or you can request copies by mail. Minnesota state tax forms and instructions can be found at the Department of Revenue website

Can I file my own taxes for free?

Yes, you can! If your annual income is less than $66,000 a year, you can file your taxes for free using Brought to you by H&R Block and United Way.
