Welcome!

The Duluth Public Library is excited to announce this service. Library Express will open with limited capacity, time, and services available to our patrons. Our hope is this will keep everyone safe.
Library Express will allow patrons to select and check out items, pick up holds inside the branches, get library cards, and return items.

What to Expect when you Arrive:

  • You will be greeted when you arrive by mask-wearing staff as all visitors are also required to wear masks.  If you forgot your mask, we will be happy to provide one.

FAQ:

Q: What can I expect when I visit a branch library?

We are happy to welcome you back to our Mount Royal and West Duluth branch libraries. We are now offering limited services at those locations which include picking up holds and short in-person visits for browsing library shelves and checking out library materials.

Q: What services are not available at Library Express?

  • In-person reference help
  • Spaces to sit, read, or study
  • Copying
  • Computer use & printing
  • Newspapers
  • Meeting room access
  • In-person programming, story times

Q: What measures is the library taking to keep patrons safe?

  • Limiting the number of patrons in our locations based on square footage
  • Eliminating seating
  • Asking patrons to keep visits short and respect social distancing guidelines
  • Using Plexiglas shields at slected service points

Q: Do I need to wear a mask when I am at the libraries?

Yes, we’re requiring all visitors to wear masks that cover nose and mouth. Per state mandate, children ages 2 and under should never wear a face covering due to risk of suffocating. Children ages 3-5 are encouraged to wear face coverings if they are able to do so in compliance with CDC guideline, i.e. without frequent touching or removal of the covering. If you forget your mask, we will provide one for you. Staff must also wear masks.
